SEND PROVISION
Education built around strengths and needs
Every learner is more than a diagnosis. WINA considers strengths, communication, sensory needs, academic profile, anxiety, independence and previous experiences of education.
Needs WINA may consider
Autism, ADHD, dyslexia and literacy difficulties, speech and language needs, SEMH needs, anxiety and school avoidance, physical or medical needs where the environment is suitable, and complex or overlapping needs requiring a coordinated plan.
Suitability and safety
WINA must assess whether it has the staffing, environment and expertise to meet need safely. An enquiry or EHCP does not automatically guarantee that every provision can be delivered.
Support may include
Structure
Visual structure, predictable routines and adapted resources.
Teaching
Smaller groups and individualised learning plans where appropriate.
Wellbeing
Pastoral check-ins, key-person support and reasonable sensory adjustments.
Collaboration
Family and professional collaboration plus examination access guidance where approved.
Documentation helps planning
Where available, share the EHCP, Educational Psychologist reports, SEN support plans, previous school reports, medical or diagnostic reports and access-arrangement documentation.
Share the learner’s current needs
Provide the available reports and context so the team can consider suitability and the right next step.
